The Birth of the Internet Retail Channel
Dear Friend,
What will you say about your business when it is over?
Writing the eulogy for your business may seem strange to you. To me, it helped change my entire
perspective on business.
I have been taking a training system called the E-Myth, which focuses on creating a system that works
without you. The basic logic is simple; if you have a business that depends on you being there, then you
have a job.
So when I was forced to write about how I wanted my business to end, I was confused. I never thought
about the end. And what I learned is that this attitude kills most businesses.
Businesses, like everything, do end. If you don't plan on how you would like it to end, you leave it
entirely up to chance. I realized a fatal flaw in my approach that I am correcting.
Most entrepreneurs create jobs for themselves...yours truly included. What is revolutionary is to create a
system that works without you. It's the same logic that Ray Kroc applied to McDonald's. He created a
system where the business could train people to do the tasks.
Here's how I see it:
A Job depends mostly on me. If I can't do the job, no one will.
A business depends on the system. You break down all the work and delegate it. Then you can go away,
relax, or at least have it work, while you are not there.
I'm applying this same approach to my business, which is the focus of this issue. I'm going to show you
how I selected a computer superstore to add to my arsenal of products. It is a turnkey offer, created by a
great company, that allows me to simply market the products.
Best of all, it works all the time, whether I am there or not. And as the Web goes mainstream, remember
that the informal, buddy-buddy days of the Internet are fading into the past.
Look around you; Disney bought a stake in Infoseek. NBC bought interest in CNET. Yahoo bought out
the most successful Internet mall, Viamall. You will need a professional site to succeed.
Click here to read the white paper on my new venture. I got a million dollar storefront, with no inventory,
they handle all the orders...all for less than the price of a computer.
I figured, instead of upgrading my computer, why not own the whole store?. As the Internet goes
professional, you can't waste time with something that makes you work.
This issue shows you, from the inside, how I targeted this opportunity and how I plan on rolling it out. I
hope you enjoy it.
My focus is marketing and sales; this system allows me to do it. And I look forward to hearing from you
about the systems that work, for you.
Peace
Declan Dunn
